Give me back my Avatar – is 11 the new 7?

by JWMcGregor on September 29, 2009

I recently wrote a post asking Twitter to give me back my avatar and background. Since then I posted followup basically saying nothing has happened since. A few days back I got sick of looking at my twitter page in its nude state and decided I had waited long enough, so I redressed it. I needed to use a facsimile of the original photo, somehow the original image had vanished from my photo collection. With rifling through 3 computers and an ipod looking for the photo, then editing with Gimp etc, it took the better part of 2 hours.

Oh well shit happens.

I decided to have a look at the status of the avatar bug to see where they have gotten with it. It has been a while and I felt sure Twitter staff would have updated the status of the problem at least.

Nothing.

Worse than nothing. A lie really.
The problem occurred on September 18, that was 11 days ago. The Twitter blog which has not changed at all says the problem occurred 1 week ago. Since when did 11 days = 7 days?

Am I being pedantic? I don’t think so. It is a double insult. Firstly the Twitter techs do not have the courtesy to update the status blog with any news whatsoever and secondly they lie about the time that has elapsed since the problem was posted to the blog in the first place.

How does 11 = 7 ?

How does 11 = 7 ?
